Ship stuck in the hangar floor

Tracked since 10 Sept 2026 · Last researched 10 Sept 2026

Problem

A retrieved ship is stuck in the hangar when its landing gear or hull is visibly sunk through the floor and it will not strafe upward.

This is a physical placement failure. It does not cover a ship that never appears, a Retrieve button that is already grey before spawning, a closed hangar door, a low acceleration limiter, or a ship-power problem.

Applies to Alpha 4.10.0 LIVE.12572603; exact affected hotfix unresolved · Current

Best current action

Store the ship, then retrieve it from inside the hangar

Store-and-retrieve is the only recovery with a reported current success for this floor-clipping incident, but another current attempt locked the player out of every Retrieve button. Treat it as a limited, medium-risk retry—not a reliable fix—and avoid it when cargo or ship-state loss would be unacceptable.

One current player reports that a fresh retrieval placed the ship correctly, and earlier players describe the same lobby-store and hangar-retrieve sequence. A different current attempt ended with every Retrieve button greyed, so success is not predictable.

What to do

  1. Leave the clipped ship where it spawned and return to the lobby.
  2. Use the lobby ASOP terminal to store the ship.
  3. Wait until the ASOP shows the ship as available to retrieve.
  4. Take the elevator back to the hangar.
  5. Retrieve the ship from the ASOP terminal inside the hangar.

The ASOP must still offer Store for the stuck ship and then offer Retrieve after storage. A greyed control prevents completing this sequence. This retry can grey out every Retrieve button, mark the ship Destroyed or Unknown, or cost cargo and time. Do not risk cargo or equipment you cannot afford to lose.

Limited SupportMedium riskReported on Alpha 4.10 LIVE, but the exact affected hotfix is unknown.

What not to try

Do not rely on a power cycle

UnverifiedLow risk

A current player suggested shutting the ship off and back on, but the matching Alpha 4.10 attempt did not free the floor-clipped ship. An earlier player also reports that restarting engines did nothing. This may describe a different power-state problem rather than physical clipping.

MaxLift could not target the stuck ship

ContradictedLow risk

The only current MaxLift attempt could not select the floor-clipped ship as a tractor target. No successful matching outcome was found.

Power and thruster changes did not release the ship

ContradictedLow risk

Moving power toward the engines and changing thruster behavior did not free the matching floor-clipped ship. The ship's physical placement remained unchanged.

Boundaries and evidence

Match the visible floor intersection before acting: landing gear or hull must be below the raised hangar surface while the ship remains present and immobile.

The current success and current failure for store-and-retrieve come from the same discussion, and no success rate is available.

Earlier procedural reports add context but cannot establish that the retry works on the current build.

No official Alpha 4.10 Known Issues entry or inspectable current Issue Council report identifies this exact incident or an official recovery.

Current player reports name Alpha 4.10 but not the exact client hotfix or shard build where each outcome occurred.

Store-and-retrieve can lead to greyed Retrieve controls, a Destroyed or Unknown ship state, cargo loss, and additional time loss.
