Inventory fails to open and crashes the client
Tracked since 11 Sept 2026 · Last researched 11 Sept 2026
Problem
Personal inventory or item storage can fail to open and crash Star Citizen straight to the desktop. Issue Council report STARC-219127 is Confirmed for Alpha 4.10.0 LIVE build 12545750.
A later LIVE client, 12568521, is available, but there is no confirmation that it fixes this crash and RSI does not publish an incident-specific workaround on the Alpha 4.10 known-issues page.
Applies to Alpha 4.10.x LIVE (STARC-219127 confirmed on 4.10.0-LIVE.12545750; later LIVE client 12568521 observed) · Current
Current conclusion
No reliable fix is confirmed
There is no supported broad fix for the inventory-opening crash. Preserve the crash files before another session overwrites them and add your current-build details to STARC-219127. If you have Overwolf, a third-party game overlay/app platform, installed and running, close it for one test only when the same missing-cursor crash also affects mobiGlas, the Escape menu, or interaction mode.
Diagnostic checks
These checks can identify the affected state, but they are not fixes.
Save the crash files before launching again
RSI says Game.log and the crash-handler payload can help identify what happened. This will not restore the crashed session, but it preserves the most useful information for support.
What to check
- Before launching another game session, copy Game.log from the StarCitizen\LIVE installation folder.
- Open %localappdata%\Star Citizen and preserve payload.zip from the crash handler when it exists.
- Keep the files unchanged and share them only with RSI Support staff.
Do this immediately after the crash because the next game session replaces the current Game.log. These files can include detailed system and session information. Share them only with RSI Support staff.
Add your reproduction to STARC-219127
The inventory-opening crash is already Confirmed. Adding the build, setup, steps, and frequency from your own crash gives CIG another current result to investigate; it does not fix the session.
What to check
- Open STARC-219127 in the Star Citizen Issue Council and sign in.
- Contribute only if you encountered the inventory-opening crash yourself.
- Select the current game version and match the setup you used.
- Add reproduction steps, frequency, and safe evidence such as a video or crash details.
Mark the report as reproduced only after you encounter the crash yourself on the listed version or a later one.
Other options
Close Overwolf for one test
If you have Overwolf installed and running, and the inventory crash also comes with a missing cursor plus freezes or crashes in mobiGlas, the Escape menu, or interaction mode
One older player fixed a broader missing-cursor crash by closing Overwolf. Their crash also affected mobiGlas, the Escape menu, and interaction mode, so this is not evidence for an ordinary inventory-only crash.
Steps
- Use this only if inventory, mobiGlas, the Escape menu, or interaction mode also freeze or crash when the cursor should appear.
- Exit Star Citizen.
- Close Overwolf completely.
- Relaunch Star Citizen and test the affected UI once.
Overwolf must be running and the crash must affect other cursor-driven screens as well as inventory. Overwolf features stay unavailable until you start the application again.
What's not worth trying
Do not jump straight to deleting settings and reinstalling
One older player with the exact press-I desktop crash deleted shader and USER data, updated drivers, and reinstalled the game without stopping the crash. That does not prove the bundle always fails, but no current Alpha 4.10 success supports its time and configuration cost.

Build status
CIG is testing a potential fix for a broader Building Blocks UI-interaction crash in PTU build 12625701. The notes do not identify STARC-219127 or confirm that the inventory-opening crash is fixed.

Boundaries and evidence
Use this page when opening inventory crashes the client. Inventory that closes immediately, stays blank, loads slowly, or loses items without a desktop crash is a different problem.
There is no verified Alpha 4.10 result that stops this exact crash. The detailed STARC-219127 reproduction notes and player comments were not publicly readable.
The exact report is confirmed on client 12545750. Whether it still occurs on the later LIVE client 12568521 is unknown.
Alpha 4.10.1 PTU build 12625701 includes a potential fix for a broader UI-interaction crash, but CIG does not tie that fix to STARC-219127 and it is not confirmed for LIVE.
