Star Citizen fails to launch with Easy Anti-Cheat Error 0
Tracked since 21 Sept 2026 · Last researched 21 Sept 2026
Problem
Easy Anti-Cheat shows Error 0 or Code 0 before Star Citizen opens, so the game cannot launch on Windows.
RSI still publishes a focused repair for this exact message. Its guidance does not tie the steps to Alpha 4.10.1 or provide a success rate.
Applies to Alpha 4.10.1 LIVE (12660092); exact Error 0 guidance is current but not build-specific · Current
Best current action
Rebuild the Easy Anti-Cheat files
Delete the installed EasyAntiCheat folder, fully restart the RSI Launcher, then run Verify. RSI still recommends this sequence, but no Alpha 4.10.1 result or success rate is available.
This is RSI's current repair for Error 0 / Code 0 and targets the EAC files before you consider a full game reinstall. Several players reported success in older versions, but another exact-code report failed, so recovery is not guaranteed.
What to do
- Open the StarCitizen\LIVE folder in the active RSI game library.
- Delete the EasyAntiCheat folder inside it.
- Fully close the RSI Launcher, including any tray or Task Manager process.
- Reopen the RSI Launcher.
- Open Settings, press Verify next to Analyze game files, and let verification finish.
Use this route on a supported Windows 10 or 11 installation, with access to the active StarCitizen\LIVE folder and RSI Launcher. Verify restores the deleted Easy Anti-Cheat files. RSI does not state how much must be downloaded or how long the check will take.
Diagnostic checks
These checks can identify the affected state, but they are not fixes.
Report an unresolved EAC launch block
If troubleshooting still leaves Star Citizen blocked, RSI asks for an Issue Council report so its teams can investigate. Reporting will not restore launch by itself.
What to check
- Open the RSI Issue Council.
- Add your unresolved launch experience and the troubleshooting steps already attempted.
- Include the phrase Easy Anti-Cheat in the report.
If lower-impact paths fail
Escalation
Reinstall only after the EAC rebuild fails
RSI lists a fresh installation as the next step only when the focused repair does not work. The one exact-code full-redownload result found did not restore launch, so treat this as a costly escalation rather than a reliable fix.
What to do
- Uninstall Star Citizen and remove its remaining game files.
- Confirm that the old game files are gone.
- Install Star Citizen again with the current RSI Launcher.
Try the Easy Anti-Cheat rebuild above before removing the full game. This removes and redownloads the full game instead of repairing only the Easy Anti-Cheat files.
What's not worth trying
Do not rely on deleting EAC roaming data
The only exact-Code-0 report found said deleting per-user Easy Anti-Cheat data appeared to work for about five minutes before the game stopped again. The report did not identify which files were recreated, and no repeat or current-build result supports the step.
Do not uninstall the Epic Games Store for this alone
One older player reported recovery after removing the Epic Games Store, but no independent repeat or evidence of a causal conflict was found. Uninstalling another launcher can interrupt access to games managed through it.
Boundaries and evidence
Use this page only when Easy Anti-Cheat shows Error 0 or Code 0 before Star Citizen starts. Other EAC codes, a launcher download error, or a crash after the game opens need different guidance.
No exact Error 0 repair was tested on Alpha 4.10.1 LIVE.
The successful and failed player reports are from 2021-2022 builds, so they cannot establish a current success rate.
RSI does not publish the root cause, prevalence, affected Alpha 4.10.1 hotfix, or a fix date for Error 0.
The older exact-Code-0 Issue Council report was not publicly inspectable, so its current resolution state is unknown.
