Workaround
Star Citizen login fails with Error 19k
Tracked since 21 Aug 2026 · Last researched 21 Aug 2026
Problem
Login fails with a 19k-series authentication error before you enter Star Citizen. The same code can come from service load, launcher state, installation state, or a local network condition.
Use this page only for 19k, 19000, or 19005 before game entry. Error 19003, Error 41013, other connection codes, loading failures, API 403, and wider service outages need separate guidance.

Wait for Error 19k load to clear, then retry once
Start with the lowest-impact response: check RSI Status, give the condition time to clear, and make only one retry. If Error 19k returns, use the matching check below instead of repeating the login.
Waiting gives a temporary service or network-load condition time to clear before you change files, launcher state, or network settings.
What to do
- Check RSI Status for a service disruption.
- Wait before retrying the login.
- Retry the login once.
Waiting may not help when the cause is local installation, launcher, network, or account-specific authentication state.
Other options
Verify game files for Error 19k
Use the RSI Launcher’s Verify game files option when the error persists after one retry. It checks the installation without changing account state.
Steps
- Open the RSI Launcher.
- Use Verify game files.
- Retry login after verification completes.
Verification can take time and may redownload damaged files; it does not address service-side load.
Check the launcher path for Error 19k
This checks a distinct launcher-state cause: the wrong executable or more than one launcher instance.
Steps
- Close all RSI Launcher and Star Citizen instances.
- Start RSI Launcher.exe.
- Sign in there and retry.
This check applies only to executable or duplicate-instance conditions.
Flush DNS once for Error 19k
Use this one-time check only when a home-network resolution issue seems plausible after the broader steps.
What to try
- Open an administrator Command Prompt.
- Run ipconfig /flushdns once.
- Retry login.
This does not address server-side load or account authentication state.
