Star Citizen Error 30000 / 30k: connection fails
Tracked since 27 Aug 2026 · Last researched 27 Aug 2026
Problem
Star Citizen's connection fails with Error 30000, often called a 30k, when the game-server connection is lost or times out while the hub connection remains.
CIG still lists the incident for Alpha 4.10 LIVE. The same code can follow a server crash or a connection timeout, so no local step is guaranteed to recover the session that already ended.
Applies to Alpha 4.10 LIVE; exact hotfix unresolved · Current
Best current action
Close the launcher completely and log in again
Exit Star Citizen, close every RSI Launcher instance, open one launcher, log in again, and test one connection. CIG lists this as a possible fix, but no current independent Alpha 4.10 success or failure was found.
This is the lowest-impact broad possible fix in CIG's current Error 30000 guidance. It refreshes launcher and login state without intentionally changing local settings or account data.
What to do
- Exit Star Citizen.
- Completely close every RSI Launcher instance.
- Open one RSI Launcher instance and log in again.
- Start Star Citizen and test one connection.
The retry takes time and is not shown to restore the interrupted session or its lost progress.
Another option
If a VPN was active when Error 30000 occurred
Retry without the VPN
CIG lists disabling an active VPN as a possible fix for Error 30000.
What to do
- Use this route only when a VPN is active.
- Exit Star Citizen.
- Turn off the VPN.
- Reconnect through the normal network path and test one connection.
A VPN must have been active when the error occurred. Turning off the VPN changes your network route and privacy exposure until you re-enable it.
Diagnostic checks
These checks can identify the affected state, but they are not fixes.
Report a persistent 30k to Issue Council
CIG asks players to add their information to Issue Council when Error 30000 continues. This helps diagnosis; it is not an immediate recovery step.
What to check
- Use this after the issue continues through applicable lower-impact checks.
- Open RSI Issue Council.
- Find the matching current Error 30000 report or create one if none matches.
- Add the requested reproduction and system information.
Use this after the error continues through the applicable lower-impact checks. Preparing a useful report takes time and does not restore the interrupted session.
Other options
Verify the game files
CIG lists launcher verification as another possible fix when the relaunch does not stop Error 30000.
Steps
- Open the RSI Launcher.
- Open Settings.
- Select Verify and allow verification to finish.
- Start Star Citizen and test one connection.
Verification takes time and may download replacement files, but it does not intentionally remove account data.
Delete the LIVE USER folder
CIG lists clearing the USER folder as a possible fix, but it has a higher local cost than relaunching or verifying files.
Steps
- Exit Star Citizen and the RSI Launcher.
- Open the StarCitizen\LIVE installation folder.
- Delete the USER folder.
- Restart the launcher and test one connection.
Deleting USER resets local settings and keybindings. Back up any configuration you need before using this fallback.

Boundaries and evidence
Use this page only for Error 30000 or 30k. Other numbered login and connection errors have different boundaries and recovery paths.
CIG gives no success rate or order for its possible fixes, and no current independent Alpha 4.10 execution result was found for any route.
The code alone does not reveal whether a server crash or the player's connection path caused a specific 30k.
These steps may help a later connection attempt; none is shown to restore the already interrupted session or its progress.
The exact affected hotfix, prevalence, and current Issue Council resolution state remain unknown.
