Super-heavy armor cannot be unequipped

Tracked since 30 Aug 2026 · Last researched 30 Aug 2026

Problem

The one-piece BUL-H4 super-heavy armor cannot be unequipped and stays on your character instead of moving into inventory. CIG says this seems to happen when the helmet, H4-PBF ammo carrier, Vendetta HMG, ammunition, or other items are still attached.

The problem is still listed for 4.10.0 LIVE. A targeted hotfix was tested on a separate channel and selected shards, but there is no confirmation that the fix reached every LIVE client and shard.

Store the armor with a freight elevator

Go to a freight elevator and remove the helmet, Vendetta HMG, ammunition, and backpack first if the game lets you. Put the remaining suit on the elevator platform and store it. This is CIG's current workaround and one 4.10.0 LIVE player reports that it worked, but loose armor can still fall through geometry.

CIG currently recommends freight-elevator storage, and one 4.10.0 LIVE player reports successfully storing the remaining suit from the elevator grid. There is no measured success rate, so treat it as the best first attempt rather than a guaranteed fix.

What to do

  1. Go to a location where you can use your freight elevator.
  2. Remove the helmet, Vendetta HMG, ammunition, and backpack first if the game allows it.
  3. Place the remaining super-heavy armor on the freight-elevator platform and store it with the elevator.

You need access to a working freight elevator. Remove attached items first when possible, because CIG associates them with the armor getting stuck. Keep every loose piece on the freight platform and make sure it is still visible before sending the elevator down. A current player reports that loose armor nearly fell through ship geometry.

Other options

If that fails, move each piece through your hands

Two 4.10.0 LIVE players report success with this sequence, but another player says the backpack re-equipped everything even after the ammunition was removed. It may work, but it is not dependable.

Steps

  1. Move the helmet into your hands, then transfer it to inventory.
  2. Repeat with the Vendetta HMG and each ammunition item.
  3. Move the ammo-carrier backpack into your hands, then transfer it to inventory.
  4. Move the remaining one-piece suit into your hands, then transfer it to inventory.

Your hands and destination inventory must accept each piece. Follow the reported order: helmet, HMG, ammunition, backpack, then suit. Stop if a piece snaps back or does not appear in inventory. In one current failure, removing the backpack caused all the other pieces to re-equip.

What not to try

Avoid dropping the suit on ordinary ground

ContradictedHigh risk

CIG also suggests dropping the armor and moving it to Local Inventory, but a current 4.10.0 LIVE player reports that the armor disappeared after being dropped. Use the freight platform instead.

Boundaries and evidence

Use this page when the BUL-H4 suit itself will not come off. General inventory delays, another stuck undersuit or clothing item, and gear that was already lost are different problems.

CIG does not publish a success rate or confirm exactly which attached item triggers the problem.

Current player results conflict, and slow inventory interactions or server state may change what happens.

Hotfix 12535871 targeted direct unequipping to Local Inventory, but its availability across all LIVE clients and shards is not confirmed.

No public Issue Council history or controlled test establishes a reliable recovery rate.
