Turret breaks into parts after removal
Tracked since 25 Aug 2026 · Last researched 25 Aug 2026
Problem
The turret breaks into separate inventory parts or comes back with essential pieces missing. This can happen after you equip and remove a TMSB-5 turret from a Mk II Hornet, or an IFR-BC7 or IFR-MS7 turret from an Idris.
CIG still lists this as an Alpha 4.9.x LIVE issue. The incomplete turret cannot function normally.

Claim the ship that came with the turret
CIG says to claim the ship that originally came with the affected turret. Retrieve the replacement and check that the turret is complete before changing its loadout again.
This is CIG's current recovery for all three named turrets after they have been equipped. Historical TMSB-5 outcomes are mixed, so it is the best supported first attempt rather than a guaranteed fix.
What to do
- Identify the ship that originally came with the affected turret.
- Use insurance to claim that ship.
- Retrieve the replacement and verify that its turret is complete before changing the loadout again.
You must be able to identify and claim the ship that originally came with the affected turret. A claim replaces the active ship state and may add a wait or fee. Move any cargo you can save first; cargo and unsaved changes on the prior ship may be lost.
Boundaries and evidence
Use this page only for the three named turrets after the equip-then-remove failure. It does not cover an unrelated missing component, an intact turret you have not swapped, or a quantum device missing from the vehicle console.
No independent Alpha 4.9 success or failure was found for the TMSB-5, IFR-BC7, or IFR-MS7 claim route.
Historical TMSB-5 players report mixed claim outcomes, and no current executed evidence was found for either Idris turret.
The exact affected hotfix and Issue Council resolution state remain unknown.
