There is no recovery supported for every broken personal-hangar cargo elevator. If an accessible external elevator visibly shows the same stored cargo, test it with one non-critical item. A larger temporary hangar is now historical fallback guidance only because its successful reports predate Alpha 4.10 LIVE.

Use an external elevator that shows the same cargo
One current player report describes retrieving a stored item through an external elevator while the home elevators were bugged. This is a narrow route, not a general fix.
What to do
- Use an external freight elevator at the same inventory location when one is accessible.
- Confirm the stored cargo is visible before transferring anything.
- Move a small non-critical item first and stop if the grid behaves unexpectedly.
The external elevator must visibly show the same stored cargo before you transfer anything. Stop if the cargo is missing or the grid is unstable. A bad transfer can misplace cargo, and the result may not be recoverable.
Other options
Fallback: try a larger temporary hangar
Two independent earlier reports describe retrieving home-location cargo through a larger temporary hangar, but no successful Alpha 4.10 execution was found.
Steps
- Obtain access to a ship that is assigned a larger hangar than the personal hangar.
- Request landing at the same home location and enter the larger temporary hangar.
- Confirm the fresh freight elevator shows the stored cargo before moving it.
You need a ship or rental that receives a larger temporary hangar at the same home location; this cannot help if your personal hangar is already XL. This route is unverified for Alpha 4.10. A rental and extra travel cost aUEC and time, and the attempt does not repair the original elevator.
What's not worth trying
Do not mistake the kiosk exit trick for cargo recovery
Pressing up, leaving the kiosk, and re-entering can move or open the platform while stored cargo still fails to rise.
