Launch fails with Error 19003 on one PC across multiple accounts

Tracked since 19 Sept 2026 · Last researched 19 Sept 2026

Problem

Star Citizen fails to launch with Error 19003 on one PC even when you try a second RSI account, while both accounts can launch on another PC.

That comparison points toward something specific to the affected PC or its connection path, but it does not prove the cause. CIG says 19k errors can also come from account data, local files, home or ISP networking, security software, or server load.

Best current action

Sync the affected PC's Windows clock

Sync the Windows clock on the affected PC, then try one launch. CIG lists this as a current Error 19k check, but there is no confirmed Alpha 4.10.1 result for this exact one-PC state, so treat it as a low-risk check rather than a guaranteed fix.

A wrong system time can interfere with authentication. This is CIG's current low-impact check and the best first step for a problem that follows one PC, although no exact success rate is available.

What to do

  1. Open Windows Time & language settings and sync the system clock.
  2. Retry the Star Citizen launch once.

Another option

If RSI Status shows an incident, or the error began during a major patch, event, or unusual login surge

Check RSI Status and wait

Error 19003 has appeared during service trouble before. When CIG shows a current incident or login surge, more local changes are unlikely to help until the service settles.

What to do

  1. Check the RSI Status page for a current incident or heavy-load event.
  2. If load or an incident is plausible, stop changing local files and retry later.

Use this route only when a service incident or unusual load is visible or strongly timed to the error.

Limited SupportLow riskCurrent general 19k guidance; no exact one-PC success is published for Alpha 4.10.1.

If more than one RSI Launcher instance appears in the system tray or Task Manager

Close duplicate RSI Launcher processes

CIG says more than one launcher instance can cause a 19k. The cause is described as rare, so check for it only when Windows actually shows duplicate processes.

What to do

  1. Exit every RSI Launcher icon shown in the Windows system tray.
  2. Check Task Manager and close any remaining RSI Launcher instance.
  3. Open RSI Launcher again and retry once.
Limited SupportLow riskCurrent CIG 19k guidance; no exact Error 19003 result is available.

If a VPN or proxy is active or still has background processes running

Retry without the active VPN or proxy

CIG lists VPN and proxy interference as one possible 19k cause. One separate 2026 Error 19003 report cleared after leftover VPN processes were ended, but that report did not include the same cross-PC comparison.

What to do

  1. Disconnect and exit the active VPN or proxy application.
  2. Retry the game launch once on the normal ISP connection.

This route applies only when a VPN or proxy is active or has left processes running. The retry uses your normal ISP route without the VPN or proxy's privacy behavior. You can turn it back on after the test.

Limited SupportLow To Medium riskCurrent CIG guidance with one older exact-code success; not confirmed for the exact Alpha 4.10.1 one-PC state.

Diagnostic checks

These checks can identify the affected state, but they are not fixes.

Send the persistent case to RSI Support

When the relevant low-impact checks fail, CIG asks for game and system files plus a list of what you tried. This may help identify the cause, but it is not an immediate way back into the game.

What to check

  1. Reproduce Error 19003 once and gather the requested game and system files.
  2. Submit an RSI Support request and list the troubleshooting already attempted.

Do this after the relevant lower-impact checks have failed and you can describe their results. Only share the requested diagnostic files with RSI Support. A support request does not provide immediate recovery.

Limited SupportLow To Medium riskCurrent official escalation for persistent 19k errors in Alpha 4.10.1.

Other options

Verify the LIVE installation

CIG recommends Verify for persistent 19k errors, but it did not help the one report that matches the full two-account and other-PC boundary. Use it after the lower-impact checks, not as a proven fix.

Steps

  1. Open RSI Launcher Settings.
  2. Select the affected channel and confirm its install location.
  3. Select Verify and let it finish before retrying.

Verification can redownload files and use extra time or bandwidth.

Limited SupportLow To Medium riskCurrent CIG guidance, with one Alpha 4.7 exact-state failure and no Alpha 4.10.1 success rate.

Rebuild USER while keeping a backup

CIG includes a USER-folder rebuild when bad local settings may be involved. No exact one-PC result is available, so preserve the old folder and use this only after simpler checks.

Steps

  1. Exit Star Citizen and RSI Launcher.
  2. Open the affected StarCitizen channel folder.
  3. Rename USER to USER-backup.
  4. Launch the game and let it rebuild the folder.

This resets local settings. Renaming the folder instead of deleting it keeps your old controls available for restoration.

What's not worth trying

Do not rely on repeated PC restarts

ContradictedMedium risk

One 2026 reporter could launch only once after each restart, while the exact cross-PC reporter saw no improvement. That conflict does not support repeated restarts as a reliable workaround.

Do not reinstall the whole game first

UnverifiedHigh risk

The matching cross-PC report still had Error 19003 after a reinstall, and another exact-code report says it worked once before the error returned. The cost is too high for an early step.

Do not use Character Repair for this Error 19003 state

ContradictedMedium risk

Character Repair did not help the matching cross-PC report, and CIG's current Error 19k guidance does not list it for this problem.

Boundaries and evidence

Use this page only when Error 19003 persists across multiple accounts on one PC and those accounts work on another PC. A general 19000 or 19005 error, a 60k lobby code, or an Error 19003 that appears during a visible service outage needs different guidance.

No Alpha 4.10.1 player result was found for this exact two-account and other-PC comparison. The matching report is from Alpha 4.7 and did not find a successful recovery.

CIG treats 19k as a family with several possible causes and publishes no exact Error 19003 success rate, so the code and cross-PC comparison cannot identify the failed component by themselves.

Current Issue Council details were not publicly inspectable. The reboot, VPN-process, and reinstall outcomes come from separate exact-code reports that do not match the full boundary of this page.

A 60015, 60030, or other 60k lobby code is a different incident; use the separate 60k login-error guidance.
