Problem
The Persistent Universe gets stuck on an Infinite Loading Screen after you leave while in a party, a party fails to form, or you log out in a ship bed.
Use this page when no broad outage or named error explains the loading state. CIG still tracks this issue, but there is no resolution notice or exact hotfix boundary.

Choose the matching route
There is no single first step for every Infinite Loading Screen case covered here. If your ship is still present in a friend's game, ask them to destroy it first. Otherwise, try the limited checks below once. Keep Character Repair as a last resort.
If you left while aboard a ship with a friend and your ship is still present in their game
Ask your friend to destroy the ship
Use this only for that exact still-present-ship case; there is no published success rate.
What to do
- Use this only when the infinite loading followed leaving while aboard a ship with a friend and your ship is still present in their game.
- Ask the friend to destroy your ship in game.
- Close and relaunch the game, then retry Persistent Universe entry once.
Skip it when the ship is unavailable or not still present. The ship is destroyed and will need normal recovery.
Other options
Try the network checks once
Try these low-impact checks once if a local connection or client condition could be involved. They may clear the state without changing account data, but are not a general repair.
What to try
- Power cycle the home modem or router once.
- If using a VPN, temporarily disable it; if not using one but able to test safely, a different VPN state may distinguish a network path issue.
- Close unrelated programs before one retry.
- Retry Persistent Universe entry once; do not repeat the sequence indefinitely.
Use this once only; it cannot repair a server-side, shard, or account-specific state.
Fully exit, wait 15 minutes, then retry once
This may give a stale session time to clear before one retry.

- Exit the game and RSI Launcher completely.
- Wait at least 15 minutes before signing in again.
- Retry Persistent Universe entry once.
- If the loading state returns, stop repeating the cycle and use the documented fallback or RSI Support.

If lower-impact paths fail
Escalation
If lower-impact paths fail, consider Character Repair
Use Character Repair only after the applicable lower-impact routes fail. It is irreversible and High risk.
What to do
- Confirm that the Persistent Universe remains indefinitely loading after you leave while in a party, a party fails to form, or you log out in a ship bed, and that no more specific error applies.
- Try the lower-impact listed workaround paths first, if they match the situation.
- Report the issue and steps to reproduce it through Issue Council, then open Account Dashboard > Settings > Character Repair.
- Start Character Repair only after reviewing the irreversible and item-loss warnings.
- Wait at least one hour after starting repair before logging back in.
Repair cannot be undone, can leave items or hangar contents missing, locks you out while it runs, and may not resolve the loading state.
