Problem
An item you were holding when you exited away from your Primary Residence appears missing after you log back in.

Check your equipment slots first
The held item may have moved instead of being deleted. Check the appropriate equipment slots first; if it is not there, check near the bed in the hab where you woke up.
CIG says a held item that appears missing after login is often placed in an appropriate open equipment slot.
What to do
- Open the character equipment view after logging back in.
- Check the appropriate equipment slots for the item that was held at logout.
- If the item is equipped, move or use it normally.
This applies when you exited while holding the item away from your Primary Residence and an appropriate equipment slot was open. This check does not reset your account or intentionally remove other items.
Boundaries and evidence
Use this only for one item held in hand at logout. Broad inventory loss after a patch, missing pledge items, and loot-transfer losses are different problems.
No current independent Alpha 4.9 execution or exact recovery rate was found, and the item may have vanished entirely if neither location contains it.
Other options
Check near the hab bed
CIG says the item may be sent to the hab near the bed, and an inventory drag can restore interaction when it is visible but unresponsive.
Steps
- Return to the hab where the character woke after login.
- Check near the bed for the item that was held at logout.
- If the item is present but has no interaction options, open inventory and drag it into an inventory slot.
- Confirm the item's interaction options have returned.
This applies when you exited while holding the item away from your Primary Residence and can inspect the hab near the bed. The search takes time and moving the item changes its inventory location, but no destructive consequence is identified.
