Items vanish when swapping armor through the loot window
Tracked since 3 Sept 2026 · Last researched 3 Sept 2026
Problem
If your inventory is already full, swapping from heavy or medium armor to light armor through the loot window can remove anything that no longer fits. The displaced items vanish instead of dropping to the floor.
CIG still lists this problem for Alpha 4.10.x. Once the items are gone, there is no supported way to restore them.

Current conclusion
No reliable fix is confirmed
If the loss has already happened, there is no reliable fix. CIG's only guidance is preventative: leave enough room in your inventory before swapping armor through the loot window.
What not to try
Do not rely on relogging to recover this loss
Relogging or restarting has restored gear that was only invisible or delayed in older and broader inventory reports. That does not show it can restore items that vanished because they could not fit during this armor swap.
Boundaries and evidence
This page covers items that cannot fit during a loot-window armor swap. It does not cover inventory that only looks empty while the game catches up, items missing after a patch, or gear lost after logout.
CIG does not name the exact affected 4.10 hotfix, how often this happens, which items are affected, or when it will be fixed.
No current Alpha 4.10.x player test was found showing that relogging, restarting, changing servers, or waiting restores items lost because they could not fit during the swap.
Older reports of gear returning after a relog appear to describe invisible or delayed inventory state, not this confirmed capacity-overflow loss.
RSI Support says it cannot restore individually lost personal equipment.
We did not reproduce this loss or test a recovery ourselves.
If the items disappeared after a game update instead, see the inventory-items-missing-after-a-patch guidance.
